COVID-19 Reopening Statement

Updated: Jun 4, 2020

Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting all of our families, our businesses, our communities, and our way of life. During this time, we wanted to reach out and update you on how we’re approaching the situation at Cougar Mountain Stables.

First and foremost, our hearts go out to anyone who's been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery. And we're truly inspired by the selfless healthcare workers around the world who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for people in need.

Second, at Cougar Mountain Stables, we’re focused on the health and safety of our employees, families, and communities. With this in mind, we are excited to restart our program in the safest way possible. Here are some of the changes we will be making in order to address both our students’ and staff members' health.

  • We will begin reopening our program as soon as King County enters Phase 2 of Washington State’s reopening plan, in order to maintain social distancing and student health. We will routinely re-evaluate this plan and will keep everyone up to date.

  • All students and instructors will be required to wear a face covering in accordance with the May 18th King County law at all times

  • All students will be required to wash hands thoroughly (at least 20 seconds) before entering Cougar Mountain Stables. Face covering must be applied prior to handwashing.

  • We have been working diligently to get our horses in shape for our program reopening, and have addressed necessary veterinary procedures and farrier plans. We plan to restart our lesson horses slowly, phasing them back into work.

  • We will continue to practice social distancing, and ask that you please limit your time at the barn to what is necessary.

  • Summer Camps WILL run this year with necessary precautions. Because the current COVID-19 situation is dynamic, we will send out our final decisions on safety precautions as the start dates approach.

We have an amazing team at Cougar Mountain Stables that is here for you. This moment reminds us that we’re all connected like never before. We’re called upon to be our best selves, with patience, understanding, and compassion. On behalf of all of us at Cougar Mountain Stables, we’re committed to persevering together in all the days and years ahead.

As we go forward, we’ll be sure to keep you updated, and know that we always value your questions, ideas, and feedback.
